Chronic Vein Disease: The most common cause of Chronic Leg Ulcers is untreated vein disease. Another leading cause is a history of blood clots (DVT).
Arterial Disease: High blood pressure, and smoking are risk factors for arterial disease and ulcers of the toe, foot and ankle area.
Diabetes: Up to 5 percent of diabetics will develop foot ulcers secondary to combination of small vessel arterial disease and neuropathy.

Controlling the swelling with manual lymphatic drainage, compression wraps and intermittent compression devices for home use are key components in promoting healthy skin and wound healing.
