Conditions – Face Veins, Georgia
Face veins may appear as small red or purple veins or larger, more prominent blue veins. Usually seen on the nose, cheeks or chin, they may be a source of embarrassment. Many lay people associate them with liver disease and alcohol use. Most cases of face veins are a form of Spider Veins. Some large face veins may represent venous malformations that may require more extensive evaluation and treatment recommendations.

Treatment for Face Veins
Face vein treatments are provided through Spa Medical, the cosmetic division of Vein Specialists of the South. We offer personalized treatment options for patients with face veins based on the diagnosis. These options include topical medications, dietary alterations, intense pulsed light, laser, and sclerotherapy. Combination treatments are sometimes needed for more extensive face veins. For optimal results, make sure you wear sun block and avoid sun exposure. It is important that you follow post treatment instructions closely.
For large blue veins around the eyes other options may be considered. Depending on the size and location, additional testing may be indicated. Some of these veins can be treated with phlebectomy or removal with local anesthesia and micro-incisions. With phlebectomy the face veins are gone immediately with minimal to no scar and bruising that can last from a few days to a few weeks.
